Embedded Tooth

Meet Tacco, a 16 month old cat experiencing a painful cyst from an embedded tooth. He was referred for treatment of an embedded tooth following unsuccessful attempts of retrieval by the referring veterinarian.

The embedded tooth is visible in this 2D radiograph.

The VetCAT CT images visualized the least invasive route to access and retrieve the troublesome embedded tooth measuring 6mm x 7mm, and a 3D view and cropping of the anterior portion of the anatomy helps identify the large dentigerous cyst- guiding extraction decisions and treatment of the forming cyst to quickly relieve Tacco’s discomfort.

Thanks to Dr. Sue McTaggart, veterinary dentist at Dean Park Pet Hospital in North Saanich, BC.
